Fitness Test

Referees must pass a Fitness Test within the 12 calendar months preceding the certification year. A test may only count towards a single year.

PART 1 - SPRINTS

6 sprints of 40 meters for Referee test / 30 meters for AR test

  • Dynamic start with one foot on a line 1.5 meters from the electronic start gate

  • If a referee trips or falls, they are allowed another “free” attempt

  • One miss is allowed. Two misses is a failure. If one is missed, the referee will run 7 sprints.

 


PART 2 - INTERVALS

10 laps of 75 meters running / 25 meters walking recovery

  • 75 meters running / 25 meters walking recovery

  • 10 consecutive laps / 1 lap = (4) of the 75-meter 25-meter intervals

  • Recovery area is marked with cones at 3 meters on each side of the 75-m line

  • If a referee fails to reach the recovery area within the time, they are issued a “caution”

  • If a referee fails to reach the recovery area within the time a second time, they have failed the test

REGIONAL REFEREES
USL-1, USL-2, NPSL REFEREES

Male / USL-1, USL-2, NPSL

  • Sprints - 6.4 seconds x (6) 40-meters

  • Intervals - 17 seconds 75-meter run | 20 seconds 25-meter recovery | 10 laps

Female - Regional Referees Only

  • Sprints - 6.6 seconds x (6) 40-meters

  • Intervals - 17 seconds 75-meter run | 24 seconds 25-meter recovery | 10 laps


USL CHAMPIONSHIP REFEREES

  • Sprints - 6.0 seconds x (6) 40-meters

  • Intervals - 15 seconds 75-meter run | 18 seconds 25-meter recovery | 10 laps

USL CHAMPIONSHIP ASSISTANT REFEREES

  • Sprints - 4.7 seconds x (6) 30-meters

  • Intervals - 15 seconds 75-meter run | 20 seconds 25-meter recovery | 10 laps
