Referee Abuse: If You See Something, Say Something.

The Arizona State Referee Administration (ASRA) stands as the foremost advocate for referees throughout Arizona. We have observed an increase in referee abuse, not only nationally but also within our own state. The ASRA firmly believes that there is absolutely no room for any form of abuse within our sport. Such actions are inappropriate at every level, particularly at the grassroots where children are involved.

Should you witness or experience any form of referee abuse, whether verbal or physical, we urge you to report it. The incident report form is available [HERE]. This form can be filled out by anyone who observes referees being mistreated or abused by any participant in a match. This includes, but is not limited to, players, coaches, directors of coaching, club officials, spectators, and parents.

Your reports are processed directly by the ASRA for review by the State Referee Committee (SRC). Thank you for your cooperation, and we wish you a competitive and enjoyable weekend.

Referee Abuse Prevention Policy (Policy 531-9)

U.S. Soccer recently introduced a policy update titled "Referee Abuse Prevention Policy (Policy 531-9)." U.S. Soccer says, "The revised policy imposes stricter penalties for any kind of physical or non-physical abuse directed at referees. We urge every player and coach to understand which behaviors are unacceptable to avoid penalties and contribute to a more positive culture for the future of soccer."
