The Arizona State Referee Administration (ASRA) proudly hosted its first Women’s Development Group Event, an initiative to empower and elevate female officials in Arizona. This event, held in collaboration with the Arizona Soccer Association, brought together talented female referees for a day of on-field experience, mentorship, and off-field education.
The day kicked off with our female officials officiating matches at the ASA State Championships. Following the morning matches, participants received mentorship from PRO officials Karen Callado and Melissa Gonzalez, about the matches.
The group then reconvened for an off-field education session led by PRO officials Melissa Beck, Karen Callado and Melissa Gonzalez, and National Referee Coach Brandon Marshall.

We extend our gratitude to the Arizona Soccer Association for their support in making this event possible. A special thank you goes to Melissa Beck, Arizona’s State Director of Officiating and Development.
We look forward to hosting many more of these events in the future!
Stay tuned for updates on future events, and connect with us to learn how you can get involved.
Arizona Women’s Development Program
The Arizona State Referee Administration created the Women’s Development Program to better equip female officials across Arizona to officiate the state’s highest-level matches. The program is led by Melissa Beck, a current PRO2 Assistant Referee, PRO AVAR, and Arizona’s State Director of Officiating and Development, a local Arizona referee.
