The 2025 registration year began on July 1, 2024, aligning with the international soccer calendar. This synchronization ensures that all registration activities within US Soccer, including those for players, coaches, and teams, are in harmony with the World Cup competition schedule.
Referees who were registered for the 2024 year are certified through December 31, 2024. To continue officiating games beyond this date, referees must recertify for 2025. Since the new registration year started on July 1, recertification courses have been officially open.
Key Changes for 2025 Recertification
This year, the recertification process has moved entirely to the US Soccer Learning Center. This change aims to streamline the process and make it more efficient for all referees. Here are the main benefits of this new system:
Single Platform: All recertification, background checks, and other licensing requirements (such as SafeSport) can now be completed on one platform.
Improved Communication: By consolidating to one platform, communication issues and delays with lesson approvals are minimized.
Simplified Fee Payment: Fees will be paid directly through the Learning Center.
Extended Background Check Validity: Background checks are now valid for two years.
Act Now: Recertify Today!
Given that we are currently in September, the recertification process has been open for a few months. Referees are urged to complete their recertification as soon as possible. This year, the process is the easiest it’s ever been.
