NEW REFEREE COURSE
Newly certified referees are designated by US Soccer as a “Referee”.
(Formerly Grassroots Referee)
If you have never been a referee before, this is the course for you.

There are 3 Easy Steps You Must Follow:
STEP 1 - Register and pay for the course online in the US Soccer Learning Center (you must have a unique account inside the Learning Center)
Step 2 - Complete the online work, modules and test (as well as a background check and SafeSport items if over 18), PRIOR TO attending the final in person clinic
Step 3 - Attend the final in person clinic.
Once you have finished all the online work AND attended the final in person clinic, you will receive your license and badge!

COURSE COMPONENTS
SafeSport Training
Training to recognize and report abuse in youth sports. Mandated by US Soccer for any referee age 18 and above.
Final Exam
This exam will be taken after completing the “Referee” Online Course. The exam is completed in the Learning Center, where you register and pay your fees.
Providing a Safe Playing Environment
This training prepares referees to deal with player injuries and emergency situations. Mandated by US Soccer for all referees.
